Faculty Biennial Showcases UA Artists “Walking the Walk”

New and recent work by the diverse group of artists who serve as our studio art professors is presented in our 2014 Faculty Biennial, held every two years at the Sarah Moody Gallery of Art in The University of Alabama Department of Art and Art History. A reception is scheduled for Thursday, February 13, 2014, in the gallery from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

The exhibition runs through March 7.

A variety of media and approaches highlight our 2014 Faculty Biennial.

The artists, who have taken up residence in Tuscaloosa, hail from many places and hold academic credentials from nationally acclaimed universities, making this exhibit truly unique for Alabama patrons of the arts. The impressive variety of approaches and media they create in – ceramics, digital media, drawing, painting, photography, printmaking and sculpture – exemplifies the wonderful work made by Capstone professors. The exhibition also gives our students the opportunity to see how their professors engage in the artistic process – how they “walk the walk.” A newly hired professor of ceramics, Matt Mitros joins the exhibition this year, as well as Professor Emeritus Henry Betak, whose work is included in the exhibition.

Participants: Professors Gay Burke, Bill Dooley, Brian Evans, Christopher Jordan, Sarah Marshall, Matt Mitros, Pete Schulte, Sky Shineman, Craig Wedderspoon and Professor Emeritus Henry Betak
