Two photographic works by UA graduate student in photography Sarah Austin were accepted into the 2015 SPE Combined Caucus 
Juried Exhibition at the Society of Photographic Education Conference, Ogden Museum of Southern Art in New Orleans, March 12 – April 5, 2015. The jurors were Deborah Willis, acclaimed artist and chair of the Department of Photography & Imaging at the Tisch School of the Arts at NYU, and Carol McCusker, eminent scholar and Curator of Photography at the Museum of Photographic Arts in San Diego. The titles of Austin’s works, both 11 x 16 inch archival inkjet prints, are The Calm (right), and Fortune Teller (below).
Austin received an SPESC Student Scholarship Award of $500 at the Regional Conference of the Society for Photographic Education in October 2014, where her photograph strung was also exhibited at the members’ exhibition.
Austin’s work was also chosen for the 2015 Joyce Elaine Grant Photography Exhibition at Texas Woman’s University juried by April Watson, curator of photography at the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art.
Her MA exhibition, Un-Apologetic, a partial requirement for the master of arts degree, is scheduled for April 13-24 in the Sella-Granata Art Gallery in Woods Hall. More of Austin’s work is here.
