…Art gallery named in honor of professors
The honorary degrees and recognition committee voted to rename Room 109 in Woods Hall in honor of two long-time UA art professors.
The Sella-Granata Art Gallery, which will house student work, honors Professor Emeritus Alvin Sella and the late Angelo Granata, a professor who died in 2008.
Between the two professors, they had almost 80 years of teaching experience, said Pam Parker, vice president for advancement.
Parker said the two professors were beloved by their students. Granata retired in 1998 but continued to sculpt and show his work until his death. Sella continues to teach, she said.
“We still see Professor Sella riding a bicycle around campus very nattily dressed,” Parker said.
