Art and Art History Hosts Chinese Artist-Scholar for 2017-2018

The UA Department of Art and Art History is hosting visiting scholar Hu Weijun, a graphic design professor at Jilin University, one of the largest research universities in China. He will be working with faculty and students and will present a lecture on his work later in the semester.

Department chair Jason Guynes said “I am looking forward to Hu Weijun being here and to seeing his contributions to our community. Internationalization of programs is a departmental and institutional goal. I am certain we will all benefit from his presence in the department and community.”

Hu Weijun received a doctorate from the Art College of Soochow University, the MA from the Art College of Jilin University and a BA from the Art College of Jilin University. His design projects include book, logo, packaging, poster and product design. Hu Weijun’s publications include the books Quick Color Matching for Graphic Designs; Professional Chromatography and Color Design for Designers; Industrial Product Design (Fine Arts Press of Heilongjiang Province) and Northeastern Shaman’s Culture and Design (Jilin University Press). Selected articles include “Research on Product Emotional Design Based on Visual Form Language (Shandong Social Sciences); “Analyses of the Importance of Chinese Character Heritage” (Manager Journal); and Aesthetics of Shaman Masks” (Debates of Literature and Art).
