Mrs. Margaret E. Rhoads, donor, stands between Dr. Witt and Frank Fleming. On April 1, 2011, “John the Turtle,” created by Frank Fleming (MFA 1973) and given to the College of Human Environmental Sciences by Mrs. Rhoads, was presented in a ceremony at the growing sculpture garden in front of the Child Development Research Center attended by UA President Robert Witt, and Dr. Milla Boschung, dean of the College of Human Environmental Sciences. John, named in honor of Mrs. Rhoads’ late husband, John Rhoads, joins Peter the rabbit, another creation of Fleming’s. Mrs. Rhoads has been collecting Fleming’s art work since 1973.
