Junior advertising major and studio art minor Kiley Peruch designed the winning logo for the Paddle the Gulf initiative’s regional logo contest. The organization hopes to enhance public awareness and promote stewardship of the region’s coastal resources through ecotourism, and Peruch’s logo design will receive wide exposure. “It’s being used for a number of things,” said Dr. Rebecca J. Allee, Senior Scientist for the NOAA Office for Coastal Management, Gulf Region. “We had t-shirts made with the logo on the back, stickers, recyclable trash bags, the website, and on signage that will be posted at paddle trails throughout the five Gulf states,” Allee added.

In addition, two UA studio art majors tied for third place in the contest: Drew Porterfield and Gracie Tucker. Porterfield is a senior majoring in digital media and advertising, and Tucker is a junior BFA major in digital media.

Paddle the Gulf is an initiative of the Gulf of Mexico Alliance whose purpose is to network and showcase coastal “blueway” paddle trails throughout the five Gulf of Mexico states (Alabama, Florida, Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas). The logo design competition was advertised for high school and college students in the five Gulf States.
