Art and Art History Hosts Visiting Scholar from China

From August 2019 to February 2020, the department was host to a visiting scholar, Professor Yang Zeyu. Professor Yang is a senior lecturer at the Department of Chinese Painting at the School of Art of the Qingdao Agricultural University, which fully funded his fellowship. He has been conducting research under the supervision of Dr. Doris Sung, assistant professor of art history, on women artists in China. While at UA, Professor Yang gave guest lectures on Chinese art, and gave demonstrations of Chinese painting and calligraphy techniques. Here he is demonstrating painting to Asian Studies students in Manly Hall, to Survey of Asian Art students (ARH 254) and during Alabama’s Homecoming festivities on the main quad.
