Art & Art History November Faculty Accolades 2021

Dr. Doris Sung

Dr. Doris Sung, assistant professor of art history, has been appointed to the International Committee of College Art Association (CAA) for a three-year term. The International Committee seeks to foster an international community of artists, designers, scholars, and critics within CAA; to provide forums in which to exchange ideas and make connections; to encourage engagement with the international visual arts community; to develop relationships between CAA and organizations outside the United States with comparable goals and activities; and to assist the CAA Board of Directors by identifying and recommending advocacy issues that involve CAA and cross national borders.

Associate Professor Bryce Speed has been awarded a fellowship by the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts (VCCA) for an artist residency for the month of November.  Speed also has a solo exhibition, Neon Afternoon, at the Hoover Public Library, which runs November 4 through December 31, 2021.

Associate Professor Pete Schulte, associate professor, department of art and art history, will have a solo exhibition at McKenzie Fine Art in New York. The show is titled The Train and the River and runs October 29 – December 19, 2021.

Dr. Jennifer M. Feltman, assistant professor of art history, was awarded an ICMA-Kress Research and Publication grant to support the publication of her book, Moral Theology and the Cathedral: Sculptural Programs of the Last Judgment in France, c. 1200–1240, which will be published by Brepols in the series, Studies in the Visual Cultures of the Middle Ages, edited by Katherine A. Smith, in 2022.
