Art History Alumna Awarded Case Western Reserve Research Grant

Art history alumna Reed O’Mara, now a PhD student in the Case Western Reserve University Department of Art History and Art, was recently named one of the Baker-Nord Center for the Humanities Graduate Student Affiliates for spring 2023. The Graduate Student Affiliate Program is a research fund awarded each year to support work in progress in the humanities at Case Western. O’Mara is researching Hebrew word panels and erased images in the Medieval biblical commentary known as the Munich Rashi, which was created in Germany in the 1230s for a Jewish patron. She will present her research in a lecture at CWRU on February 16, 2023. O’Mara was also just accepted to attend an immersive language program in Hebrew at the Middlebury Language School in Vermont.

Reed O’Mara received the BA in economics and German language and literature with a minor in art history from The University of Alabama in 2017 and began her master’s studies in art history at UA. She received her MA in art history from Case Western Reserve University in 2020.
