Jenny Blount Tucker
307 Garland Hall
Jenny Tucker received the MA in art history from the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 2009. She teaches online art history courses. In 2017, Tucker developed and launched a new course companion website tool, ARTmap, built in collaboration with the College of Continuing Studies and the Alabama Digital Humanities Center. Tucker was named a 2017 Innovation Mentor by the College of Continuing Studies, in part for the ARTmap program, as well as for another teaching innovation, her series of “Did You Know?” videos which, according to the CCS website, “bring her personality into her Art History online classes, increasing student connection to their professor and to course material.” In the fall of 2017, Tucker is assisting in leading a workshop for other online instructors hoping to create innovative content. Tucker was invited to write a blog post about the ARTmap resource for Art History Teaching Resources (AHTR): “ARTmap: A New Paradigm for Teaching Art History to the Online Learner.” She has taught at UA since 2009 and served as director and classroom instructor for our overseas study program in Italy since 2010.
