Cultural Collateral: Selections from the Permanent Collection

Tuscaloosa – The Sarah Moody Gallery of Art presents Cultural Collateral: Selections from the Permanent Collection, January 9-February 14, 2020. The public is invited to the opening reception, Thursday, Jan. 9, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.Dark gnarled trees closely intertwined open to a brightly lit clearing in the distance.

Each year the Sarah Moody Gallery of Art produces an exhibition that features selections from its Permanent Collection of contemporary art, a unique and valuable resource to the communities of UA and West Alabama. The Permanent Collection dates back to the 1950s and currently numbers over 1,600 works of contemporary art by international, national and regional artists. The selections reflect the variety of contemporary artistic styles, materials and approaches found in the collection.

Funding support for the Sarah Moody Gallery of Art comes from the department of art and art history and the College of Arts and Sciences. Additional support comes from the Farley Moody Galbraith Endowed Exhibition Fund. Admission to the gallery is free. Hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m., and Thursday 9:00 a.m.–8:00 p.m. when school is in session. The gallery is located at 103 Garland Hall in the heart of UA campus on Woods Quad.
