In conjunction with the exhibition, Rural Studio: Alabama Design | Build Projects, the public is cordially invited to a talk by Alex Henderson, 3rd year studio instructor at Rural Studio. Henderson will speak Thursday, September 1 at 11:00 a.m. in Gorgas Library 205 on UA campus.
Alex Henderson’s talk will span current teaching projects and Rural Studio’s role in the community, as well as his own student days at Rural Studio. Henderson graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Architecture from Auburn University in 2012. He now teaches building design and construction principles and practices to third year students at Auburn’s off-campus design-build program in Newbern, Alabama. He has lectured at the Chicago Architecture Biennial; the University of Louisiana at Lafayette; Monteagle Assembly in Tennessee and Haystack Mountain School of Crafts in Deer Isle, Maine. The exhibition, Rural Studio: Alabama Design | Build Projects runs from August 15 to September 16 in the Sarah Moody Gallery of Art.
Funding support for the Sarah Moody Gallery of Art comes from the Department of Art and Art History and the College of Arts and Sciences. Admission to the gallery is free. Hours are Monday through Friday 9:00 – 4:30 p.m., Thursday evenings: 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. The gallery is located at 103 Garland Hall in the heart of the UA campus on Woods Quad.
