General Information about Scholarships

Get ready to apply for Art and Art History Scholarships! Scholarships aren’t just for advanced students; we award funding at the foundations and intermediate levels too. Some awards are based on the quality of student work and some are based on financial need. Last year we were able to support 59 students, so put your best foot forward and apply.

Who can apply for a departmental scholarship?

  • Declared ART majors with at least 3 ART credit hours completed at UA
  • Minimum 2.5 overall GPA and 3.0 GPA in ART/ARH courses
  • Full-time enrollment at UA as an ART major for at least one semester of the 2022-2023 academic year
  • Previous scholarship recipients are eligible.
  • Incoming high school and transfer students, and current students (both undergraduate and graduate)

What is the general timeline?

  • The deadline for application submission is Noon, Friday, January 27, 2023.
  • The scholarship review for studio art majors will be held in person this year, in Woods Hall, on February 10, 2023.
  • Awards will be announced at the department’s Honors Day reception, Friday, April 7, 2023.
  • Funds will be available for the coming academic year.

Important Scholarship Policies:

  • Awards are given as monetary scholarships toward tuition for the 2022-23 academic year only.
  • Awards may not be applied to Summer 2023 courses.
  • Students planning to graduate in December 2023 may receive a 50% award level to fund a single semester (fall) of the 2023-2024 academic year.

Where do the funds come from?

Through the generosity of many donors over the years including departmental alumni, former faculty members, and supporters of the arts, we provide merit- and need-based scholarships for student education.

What other scholarships are available?

There are multiple sources of scholarship information at UA, including Undergraduate Scholarships, Graduate School Financial Support and Student Financial Aid.
