Sella-Granata Art Gallery Hosts 2025 Study Abroad Exhibition
The UA Department of Art & Art History’s new study abroad exhibition runs from September 18 – October 10, 2025 in the Sella-Granata Art Gallery. The public is invited to an opening reception on Thursday, September 25, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. This May, Professor Jason Guynes and Dr. Tanja Jones led more than 20 students on a tour through Toledo, Madrid, Córdoba, Granada, and Barcelona! The Paul R. Jones Collection of American Art is pleased to announce its recent acquisition of two new works. The Collection, comprised of more than 2000 works, has supported and highlighted underrepresented artists since its inception in 2008.

Sella-Granata Gallery Prepares for New Exhibition Year
The Sella-Granata Art Gallery will be closed from January 8-26, 2020, for repairs and gallery assistant training. Our next show, the Annual Scholarship Exhibition, will open on February 3, 2020 and feature artwork by returning studio art majors who have applied for scholarships in the department. Woods Hall Renovations
Renovations on our drawing classrooms on the third floor of Woods Hall began in early summer 2019. Funds from the College of Arts & Sciences purchased new floors, plastering and painting in rooms 306 and 307. Year-end money will pay for new projectors, screens, and chairs. Works by University of Alabama art students in ART 444 inspired by the music of renowned jazz composer and musician Anthony Braxton are on exhibit Feb. 6-27 at The University of Alabama Gallery in the Dinah Washington Cultural Arts Center in downtown Tuscaloosa. Greek Goddess Gets a Makeover For more than a century, a classically-robed goddess greeted newcomers to the place most recently named Bryce Hospital, promising all who entered youth and health as she poured real water from a ewer she held overhead.
