SPLIT: 2023 BFA Graphic Design Senior Exhibition

Graphic design by Danielle Farist

The UA Department of Art and Art History presents the BFA Graphic Design degree exhibition, SPLIT, by seniors Danielle Farist and Kyle Paeth, December 12 through 15, 2023, in the Sella-Granata Art Gallery, Woods Hall. A reception for the artists will be on Thursday, December 14 at 5:00 p.m.

Both degree candidates will graduate in December 2023.

A recent project of Danielle Farist was to design a logo, mobile app and menu for a vegan café, Sluggo’s, in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Farist said, “I completely redesigned the menu all while maintaining the overall ‘healthy’ aesthetic of the cafe.”  While a student, she worked for UA Student Media creating advertisements for the Crimson White, UA events and local businesses. Farist earned a certificate in Adobe Social Media Content & Strategy and is a member of Honor Society®, the Capstone Graphic Design Society, and The Society for Collegiate Leadership and Achievement. Farist, who also designed the exhibition graphic above, said that she plans to look for graphic design work in the Atlanta metro area. She is on Instagram: @daniellefarist_graphics.

Graphic design by Kyle Paeth

For his final project, Kyle Paeth created a logo and slogan, signage, billboard ads, and other items for a hotel, using only one typeface. He worked with a student graphic design group that rebranded the nonprofit organization, United Way of West Alabama, with T-shirts and social media posters for several events, and as a graphic designer for MegaVolt Corp, a digital entertainment company, on the project Sup Ducks. Paeth said that he hopes to find a job in the gaming industry as a graphic designer. “This can entail creating brand identities for hardware companies, competing teams, or working for tournament organizers,” he said.
