Fall Showcase of New and Returning Graduate Students Opens Sept. 5

Tuscaloosa, Ala. — New arrivals will join the present cohort of graduate studio art students in The University of Alabama’s department of art and art history to exhibit art work in the Sella-Granata Art Gallery September 5-19, 2019. The public is invited to a reception for the artists on Thursday, September 5, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. in the SGAG gallery at 109 Woods Hall. Beginning at 4:30 p.m., the artists will present five-minute gallery talks about their work.

The reception will be one of two that evening for Art Night on Woods Quad. The second reception will be held at the Sarah Moody Gallery of Art, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., for an exhibition featuring art by the department’s faculty.

New graduate students Zoe Fitch (painting), Upneet Kaur Mair (printmaking), Shivam Pawar (printmaking), René Thompson (painting), and Sandra Vega (printmaking) and returning graduate students Katie Adams (sculpture), Jude Anogwih (painting), Sarah Dittmann (printmaking), Nasrin Iravani (ceramics),  John Klosterman (printmaking), Juan López-Bautista (painting), Kelsey Meadows (ceramics), and Amber Quinn (photography) will all have art works on display.

Funding support for the Sella-Granata Art Gallery comes from the department of art and art history and the College of Arts and Sciences. Admission to the gallery is always free.

Hours are Monday through Thursday 9:00 a.m.- 5:00 p.m. and Friday 10 a.m.-2 p.m. The gallery is located at 109 Woods Hall in the heart of the UA campus on Woods Quad.
