Students from UA, UAB, Samford, and Montevallo got a free evaluation of their work and a painless preview of future job interviews during the 2024 Alabama Design Portfolio Review. Twenty creative professionals from top regional, statewide and Birmingham-area companies attended the annual event and offered advice and expertise on the work of more than thirty graphic design students from UA, UAB, Samford and Montevallo. Among the agencies represented were GRO Marketing, Alabama Power, Luckie & Co., Apostle and Lewis Communication.

The review was organized this year by Assistant Professor Jonathan Cumberland and hosted by the UA Department of Art and Art History. Cumberland said, “Any time we can bring industry into an academic environment, it reaffirms the path our design majors are taking with their education. This review provides our students with guidance and advice on their portfolio and career goals.”

The annual portfolio review day rotates each year among UA, UAB, Samford, and Montevallo.
