UA Art Students Find Jobs, Internships and Gifts for Pets during Adobe Day

In April, Assistant Professor Cassandra Palmer‘s graphic design classes took part in UA’s annual “Adobe Day” activities. Adobe products are free to UA students and during Adobe Day, students receive intensive training for them from expert users. An Adobe Express expert visited Palmer’s classes and presented two workshops, one about finding a “dream job” and one on social media basics.

Taylor Branick, BFA in Graphic Design

BFA in Graphic Design major Trinity Bailey, who has an internship with TotalCom Marketing in Tuscaloosa this summer, said, “These workshops were helpful, taught me quick facts about Adobe software, and made me feel like the possibilities for future careers in graphic design are large; graphic design is everywhere!” Bailey’s art Instagram is @createbytrin.

BFA in Graphic Design major Taylor Branick quickly learned skills that helped her land a job. “With what I gained from the workshops,” Branick said, “I successfully went through my first interview process and accepted an on-campus job. I also learned some helpful tips and tricks about Adobe Express, which I had never worked with before.”

BFA in Studio Art (digital media) sophomore Reese Yarbrough found a heartwarming use for her new Adobe skills. “Adobe came on campus the day before I brought my wonderful foster dog home, which gave me the opportunity to make a custom dog tag for his collar, and also learn a new program for free! I created the dog tag in Adobe Express which I learned is both very user-friendly and can greatly help expedite projects like updating my resume, making presentations, and creating Instagram posts to promote my personal brand.”
