BFA Major Reese Yarbrough Designs Newsletter Masthead

The UA Department of Art and Art History is proud to announce that our monthly e-newsletter (subscribe here) has a new masthead! The design was created by BFA in graphic design major Reese Yarbrough, a junior from Alabaster, Ala. Yarbrough’s work was recognized in 2023 by one of the oldest graphic design organizations in America in the 60th GDUSA (Graphic Design USA) Annual Showcase. Her work was juried into the Susan Nomberg McCollough Fine Arts Initiative in 2023, she was awarded the Farley Moody Galbraith Endowed Scholarship and the Galbraith Endowed Art Scholarship in 2023, and she is an Adobe Student Ambassador. More of Yarbrough’s work can be seen on Instagram at rcy_designs.

“Every few years, we change masthead designs and feature one of our majors,” said the department communications specialist and editor of the newsletter, Rachel Dobson. “Since we started in 2019, we’ve had three very different designs by majors working in different areas. Anna Sella was a BFA major in studio art with concentrations in digital media and drawing. Her design was a lovely digital painting of a student in the colonnaded porch of Woods Hall, an iconic motif of the University. Britt Guynes was a BFA major in studio art with concentrations in digital media and sculpture. Britt’s design, a digital collage of photos he made around campus, was light and airy and surreal. Our newest masthead is the first created by a BFA major in graphic design. When you first see Reese Yarbrough’s masthead, you immediately recognize the “Roll Tide” colors, but the piece is unique — very creative and surprising! I hope our readers like it as much as we do.”
