Digital Humanities Seminar on the Usage of Getty Vocabularies

Jonathan Ward, Senior Editor of the Getty Vocabulary Program, will present “The Getty Vocabularies: Access to Art History and Visual Culture Studies Through Multilingual Thesauri,” virtually on Wed., March 31, 2021, from 12:30 to 1:30 pm (CDT)

The presentation will introduce the Getty Vocabularies, a group of structured thesauri used by institutions and catalogers across the globe. It will cover the value of controlled vocabularies as metadata standards, the scope of each of the Vocabularies, linked open data and access, usage in the fields, and how to contribute.

Jonathan Ward has over 20 years’ experience working with thesaurus construction and terminologies for the arts and museum community. He has an MLIS from San Jose State University and is currently the Vice-Chair of CIDOC, ICOM’s International Committee for Documentation.
