Exhibition Review by Brett Levine in Burnaway

Erin Colleen Johnson uses video, performance, photography and installation to investigate practices of hope and empathy enacted by people ranging from Morse code agents to ice fishermen. Her work has been exhibited in spaces such as the Berkeley Art Museum, Southern Exposure, Vox Populi, Root Division, Zero1 Biennial, Delaware Center for the Contemporary Arts, and Kala Art Institute.

Johnson holds an MFA and Certificate in New Media from the University of California, Berkeley. She lives in Atlanta where she is an Assistant Professor of Video and Photography at the University of West Georgia. Her website is erincolleenjohnson.com.

This exhibition is supported by the UA Department of Art and Art History. Located in 109 Woods Hall, the Sella-Granata Art Gallery features exhibitions of student Erin Colleen Johnson, Still from "To Sea"work and visiting artists. In the fall of 2009, the gallery was named in honor of two long-time UA art professors: the late Alvin Sella and the late Angelo Granata.
