The University of Alabama department of art and art history is proud to present the Master of Arts thesis exhibition of Zoe Fitch in the Sarah Moody Gallery of Art. It’s Canning Season will run from March 22 to May 7, 2021. Preview the exhibition on Flickr.com.

Using the mediums of painting, clay, collage and screen printing, Fitch, an Oxford, Mississippi native, illustrates traditions associated with Southern domestic female gender roles, incorporating pieces of her personal history into her art practice as an exploration of her identity.

Fitch received a BFA in art from the University of Mississippi. She holds a teaching assistantship and serves as the instructor of record for ART 216 (Painting) and has assisted in 2D design courses. In 2020, Fitch’s paintings Mississippi Migrant Mother and Bless Your Heart were juried into The In Art Gallery’s Painting Exhibition, by juror Hagit Barkai. Her work has appeared in several recent exhibitions including the 2021 Graduate Student Pop-Up Exhibition, and the Fall Graduate Student Show in 2019. Her art website is here.

Fitch is a co-curator in the concurrent 14 SELECT(IONS), also on display in the Sarah Moody Gallery of Art from March 22 to May 7.
