In a new exhibition, University of Alabama students who traveled to Spain in May will exhibit some of the art they created while there. Souvenirs: Spain’s Influence on Student Artwork runs September 26 through October 10, 2023, in the Sella-Granata Art Gallery, 109 Woods Hall, on UA campus. There will be a reception for the artists on Thursday, October 5, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.
Join us for the reception with free refreshments and learn more about studying abroad and scholarship opportunities. Students and professors will be there to answer questions and give more information about the upcoming trip in May 2024.
The graduate and undergraduate exhibitors – Emma Mae Burtnett, Nathan Childers, Judith Borom, Cecily Downey, Nate Fulmer, Elizabeth Golembiewski, Chrissy Gronke, Bella Guynes, Dillan Ladner, Drew Merriweather, Luke Skaff, SK Steen, Jennifer Stroud, and Jillian Thorson – took studio and art history courses during their month-long study abroad tour. Their artwork was inspired by the cathedrals, museums, world heritage sites, and more, in the cities of Madrid, Toledo, Barcelona, Granada, and Cordoba, where they visited.
Hours for the Sella-Granata Art Gallery are Monday through Thursday 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and Friday, 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. when school is in session. The gallery, located in 109 Woods Hall on 7th Avenue, UA campus, in Tuscaloosa, features student exhibitions as well as visiting artists and is an essential part of the education and development of UA students and our community.
