UA Grad Student’s Painting Selected for International Art Fair in Venice

Ashlee René Thompson has had two paintings selected for international exhibitions. Her mixed media painting, Comfort in the Panic, was accepted to the Consciousness section of ITSLIQUID ANIMA MUNDI Venice International Art Fair in Venice, Italy.

Her painting will be on display from May 12 to June 3, 2022, at THE ROOM Contemporary Art Space, from May 13 to June 03, 2022, at Palazzo Albrizzi-Capello and from May 14 to June 03, 2022, at ITSLIQUID ART SPACE, Venice Grand Canal, in Venice, Italy.

In addition, Thompson’s painting “Overextended” was awarded Special Recognition in the 13th Annual “Abstracts” art exhibition in the Light Space &Time Online Art Gallery.

Ashlee René Thompson is an MFA candidate concentrating in painting. She is also working toward a certificate in museum studies. Her MFA thesis exhibition, Fragments, will be on display in The University of Alabama Gallery in the Dinah Washington Cultural Arts Center April 1 through May 6, 2022. Thompson’s work was selected for the Tennessee Valley Museum of Art’s new national juried exhibition, Emergence (June 2021), for the online In Art Gallery, and for the show, Open Exhibition, at the Light Space & Time Online Art Gallery in July 2021, among other exhibitions. Thompson also served as the project manager for the 2022 exhibition, Weaving Muscogee Creek Culture: The Artistry of Mary Smith, at the Mildred Westervelt Warner Transportation Museum in Tuscaloosa. She holds an MLA in general studies and a BA in art with a minor in art history from Auburn University Montgomery, where she also serves as an adjunct instructor. Her art website is here.
