UA Grad Students Visit BMA’s American Galleries

Associate Professor Allison Grant (photography) and students in the studio art graduate seminar (ART 511) took a field trip to the Birmingham Museum of Art earlier this fall. They were given a tour of the BMA’s American galleries by Katelyn Crawford, the William Cary Hulsey Curator of American Art, who discussed the museum’s collecting practices and its approach to selecting which works are on display. The trip was part of the graduate seminar’s critical exploration of contemporary issues, philosophies, criteria and ideas in art.
