UA Graphic Design Students Recognized Again by Graphic Design USA

The February 2024 issue of Graphic Design USA included two UA BFA Graphic Design majors in their “Students to Watch” feature:

  • Katelyn Daniewicz, who was also recently recognized in the 60th GDUSA (Graphic Design USA) Annual Showcase. Daniewicz, from Northport, Ala., graduated in December 2023 with a BFA in graphic design and is now a junior art director at GRO Marketing. After starting out at UA as a STEM major, Daniewicz eventually found her “passion for branding and package design” in the department of art and art history. She said, “I feel like I won’t have to work a day in my life. Earning my degree in graphic design at UA has changed my life.”
  • Senior BFA major Darrell Shelby, from Tuscaloosa. Shelby said that he has “always had a passion for art and design but did not know how to bring my skills together until I discovered brand and UI design.” Shelby added some great advice to novice designers: “not to fall in love with your first idea, instead work through as many iterations of a design as you can and see where it takes you.”

Graphic Design USA has been a news source for graphic designers for six decades, sponsoring national design competitions, and recognizing up-and-coming designers around the country.
