UA Studio Art Clubs Feature Campus-Wide Artwork

The UA Department of Art and Art History presents an exhibition of artwork by members of our student art clubs in the Sella-Granata Art Gallery, October 10-25, 2019. Members of the General Art Club, Crimson Clay and the Alabama Print & Book Group – undergrad and graduate students from a variety of majors across campus – will be included.Visitors in the Sella-Granata Art Gallery

A reception for the artists will be Thursday, October 10 from 4-6 pm in the gallery, 109 Woods Hall.

Digital media instructor Mark Sniadecki, a faculty advisor for the General Art Club (GAC), said, “This exhibition is an opportunity to highlight how student artists are not only artists in the classroom but are making art on their own time, for their own growth and fulfillment. Art is foundational for creating a sense of community; these students come together outside of the studio, not for a grade, but for the interactions, to share experiences and knowledge. Many of our GAC members hail from departments outside of the department of art and art history, but they are drawn in and united by a desire to express themselves, and to see how others are doing the same.”

Admission to the gallery is free. Hours are Monday through Wednesday 9 a.m.-5 p.m., Thursday 9 a.m.-8 p.m., Friday 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Information about visitor parking is available on the UA parking services website. Parking is free on campus in a legal space after business hours. For more information, contact the gallery at (205) 348-2783.
