UA art alumna Deborah Hughes has curated another varied and beautiful exhibition of paintings at the University Medical Center. The Artist’s Studio, Inside and Out will be on exhibit January 15 through April 1, 2016. Spotlighting the paintings of Montgomery artist Sue Pieri, the show also includes artists Lori Layden, Pamela Copeland, Jack Kidd, Christina Metzger, Sue Blackshear and Cooper French. The University Medical Center is located at 850 5th Ave E, Tuscaloosa and is open Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
In 2013, local artist and UA art alumna Deborah Hughes took over coordinating the hanging of the art at the center and in January 2014 she became the official curator of the Wellness Walls for Art program. Recent shows include A Sense of Place, A Brush With Art – Paintings by The Tuscaloosa and University Painters; The Many Faces of Art in Adult Continuing Education; About People; Quilting and Carving; and More Quilting, Carving and Printing, Too! featuring the prints of Isadora Bullock and quilts by the West Alabama Quilters Guild.
