Pete Schulte’s new site-specific work is installed at the University of Georgia’s Plaza Gallery as part of the Dodd Galleries’ ongoing Wall Works series. Schulte’s Untitled (Plaza) consists of two wall paintings that exist, as Schulte describes them, “in simultaneity, as twins and opposites.” The works will be up through March.
Pete Schulte is associate professor of drawing in the UA department of art and art history, where he has taught since 2011. His studio practice is rooted in drawing and includes the integration of sculpture, site-specific wall drawings and installations. He has been artist-in-residence at the Chinati Foundation and held a solo exhibition at the John Wesley Gallery. Schulte’s solo exhibition, at McKenzie Art in New York was listed in Hyperallergic’s year-end review of significant art shows in 2019.
