The University of Alabama Department of Art and Art History is proud to announce Magnanimous Moment of Departure, a thesis exhibition presented by Nasrin Iravani to fulfill the requirements of the MFA degree. The exhibition will run from April 21 to May 14, 2020, in the Sarah Moody Gallery of Art on UA campus. The exhibition is documented and presented on Flickr. Nasrin Iravani is completing her graduate studies in ceramics and serves as a graduate teaching assistant. Iravani presented her Master of Arts exhibition at UA with the April 2019 exhibition entitled I’m a Woman Here Standing in the Mist! She received the MA in Handicrafts (ceramics) from Tehran University of Art. Her work is inspired by figurative forms in Persian art and she explores the dialogue between the visual elements of traditional Persian art and contemporary art. Iravani has participated in ceramics exhibitions internationally, in Milan, Italy; Madrid, Spain and Tehran, Iran, and in the United States. Recent exhibitions include The Millennial Show Juried Exhibition, Dayton (Ohio); Clay: A Southern Consensus, New Orleans; 33rd Annual Alabama Clay Conference; The Ritual Table (Corning, New York); and Vitreous, New Orleans. She has been accepted to an artist residency at Baltimore Clayworks.
