Maz Derakhshani is a graduate student in photography with an assistantship, assisting in Intro to Digital Photography (ART 218) and Photographic Studio Lighting (ART 338). He holds a BA in scene design from the music and theater department of the University of Tehran and a Diploma of Fine Arts in graphic design from the Conservatory of Fine Arts, Isfahan, Iran.

Derakhshani is a photographer and a writer. Most recently, he has been writing comedy stories for 40cheragh Magazine in Tehran. His photographs are mostly street and documentary photography based on public places. He is working to depict America at the intersection of movies and reality.
