The exhibition features the introductory art work done by UA students during the past semester. Assistant Professor Allison Grant, who heads the Sella-Granata gallery committee, said, “This exhibition captures the breadth and diversity of artwork being made by University of Alabama students at the 100 and 200 level. Often our department showcases work by advanced students; what you will see in this exhibition are the skills and ingenuity that instructors are imparting early on. As students develop into artists, they draw on these early lessons to craft intellectually engaging art practices and bring voice to their individuated sense of the world we inhabit. This show represents the bedrock upon which Tuscaloosa’s next generation of artists will build their work. We are excited to share it.”

Faculty from each of our studio concentrations and our Foundations area have selected work to showcase. The work, hung high up the walls in the traditional salon style of 19th-century academic exhibitions, highlights of the students’ creativity and technical skill in media in the areas of Ceramics, Digital Media & Graphic Design, Drawing, Foundations, Painting, Photography, Printmaking and Sculpture.
