SMGA: Faculty Biennial
March 1, 2022 @ 9:00 am - 4:30 pm
The University of Alabama Department of Art and Art History is proud to present the 2022 Faculty Biennial Exhibition, which opens Thursday, February 3 with an artists’ reception from 4 to 6 p.m. The exhibition will run through March 11.
Every two years, UA studio art faculty exhibit their ongoing research in art in a group show for the community. Gallery director and associate professor William Dooley, who has curated the faculty shows for three decades, emphasized the element of discovery that is built into each exhibition: “With our new faculty added to the mix and the use of innovative materials and approaches in art production, the works display a richness of artistic depth that will make this year’s show a great opportunity for the University and Tuscaloosa community and all art lovers in our area.”
New to the exhibition this year is Assistant Professor Jamey Grimes. He joins faculty Jonathan Cumberland, William Dooley, Allison Grant, Jason Guynes, Holland Hopson, Christopher Jordan, Sarah Marshall, Wade MacDonald, Celestia Morgan, Pete Schulte, Bryce Speed and Craig Wedderspoon.
The SMGA is an essential part of the education and development of UA students and our community. To ensure the safety of our visitors and staff, the University requires that everyone must wear face coverings inside the gallery and maintain a minimum distance of six feet from others. The gallery is limited to fifteen (15) visitors at a time. Please check UA’s health website for the most up-to-date information.
